Hypericum Harvest

For the second time this Summer we travelled three hours down South to Burkes’s Pass to gather Hypericum Perforatum, commonly known as St. John’s Wort. Throughout New Zealand it is known to only be found in the South Island.

It is a labour of love harvesting Hypericum! We highly recommend gathering a group of friends or keen nature lovers to make a day trip together to collect Hypericum as it is truthfully very time consuming, (Hypericum you are worth the hard work!).

Some of St. John’s Wort’s magnificent plant actions are: mood elevation, nerving tonic, antiviral, antimicrobial (topically), insomnia, anxiety, emotional stress and irritability. Famous for healing the nervous system - especially the sciatica nerve!

St. John’s Wort is masculine in energy, is an element of fire and is associated with the sun and Baldur. It is worn to prevent colds & fevers. Placed under the pillow to induce prophetic dreams. Used for protection & blessing. Carry to strengthen courage and convictions, or when confronting nasty situations!
